Linda P. McIntosh

Today we gather to celebrate the life of Linda Pearl Briggs McIntosh—a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and faithful servant of God. Linda was born on January 19, 1950, on Long Island, New York. She was welcomed into Heaven by her loving parents, John and Lillian Briggs, and by her beloved husband, Donald McIntosh, whom she missed dearly. She leaves behind a family who will forever cherish her memory: her daughters, Mary Herrera of Greeley, Pennsylvania, and Amy Hasbrouck of Freeport, New York; her five grandchildren, Christopher, Kayleigh, Emily, Abigail, and Ian; her five great-grandchildren, Julia, Elora, Deen, Eli, and Eva; her sisters, Lee, Loraine, and Penny; her brother, Steven; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were touched by her kindness. For more than 30 years, Linda faithfully worked at Hempstead Hospital. She took pride in her work and approached it with the same dedication and integrity that she brought to every aspect of her life. But if there was one thing that truly defined Linda, it was her unwavering faith. She was a Franciscan monk, a Eucharistic Minister, a catechist, a choir member, and devoted herself to perpetual adoration. Her relationship with God wasn't something she spoke about only on Sundays—it was something she lived every day. She served with humility, compassion, and a heart that always sought to bring others closer to Christ. Linda had many gifts and passions. She loved sewing, making rosaries by hand, writing poetry, studying history, and baking for those she loved. She could often be found working on a Sudoku puzzle or sharing a joke that would leave everyone laughing. She appreciated a funny card and believed that laughter was one of life's greatest blessings. She also had a spirit of adventure. Linda loved to travel and explore. She visited 46 states, enjoying camping trips, long road trips, and discovering the beauty of God's creation across the country. She found joy in the journey as much as the destination, and many of her family's favorite memories were made along those travels. While our hearts are heavy today, we are comforted by knowing that Linda's earthly journey has led her to her eternal home. We can imagine her reunited with those who went before her, embraced by the Lord she served so faithfully throughout her life. Though we will miss her smile, her laughter, her wisdom, and the love she shared so freely, her legacy will continue to live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and everyone blessed enough to have known her. As we say goodbye, let us remember Linda not with only tears, but with gratitude—for her faith, her example, her laughter, and the countless ways she made our lives richer. May we honor her by loving one another as she did, serving others as she did, and keeping our faith as steadfast as hers. Rest in peace, Linda. Your work here is done, your race is finished, and your reward is eternal. Until we meet again, you will forever remain in our hearts.
