Nino A. Noto died on July 5, 2020 at the age of 77, in Mt. Sinai's Cardiac ICU, on the upper east side of Manhattan. At his side were his wife Janis and sons, David and Alexander. Nino is also survived by his daughter in-law, Holly, and his grandchildren, Sabrina and Calvin. Nino was born and raised in Genova, Italy. He studied economics and engineering at the Università di Genova, and worked as a geometer and architect before moving to New York in 1967. Over a half century, he worked for Diesel Construction, Universal Construction, HRH Construction and TRM Contracting as a construction manager and project engineer on many skyscrapers, hospitals and buildings across New York City, Puerto Rico, Ireland, France, England, Spain and Saudi Arabia. It was in New York that Nino met and married the love of his life, Janis. Their 50-year marriage was punctuated with love, children, grandchildren and dear friends, all of whom loved him as much as he adored them. He was a chef extraordinaire who showed his love by feeding people, and passed along his love of food, wine, Italy, and travel to everyone he met. Nino was an unforgettable classic: charismatic and larger than life. He was always dapper, a bon vivant with excellent taste, and a man with the grace to make every person in the room feel welcome. If Nino called you "darling," you were adored, if he called you "guy," you were a dear friend, and if you were really lucky, he cooked for you and poured you a glass (or six) of wine – all full of his generosity, artistry and passion. If you knew Nino, you loved him. Family will receive friends on Wednesday July 8th from 7:00 - 9:00PM *Due to the Phase II Mandate by the State of New York the maximum number of people allowed in the Funeral Home is 40.
