Our aunt, Edelgard Hagenes, has gone from Germany to swiss and than to New York at the beginning of the sixties. There she met the love of her life and future husband, Arthur Hagenes. They spent most of their lifetime in Freepot, NY. Edelgard became a Nurse worked with a passion in this profession in the Nassau University Medical Center until her retirement. Edelgard has been a women full of energy and liked to enjoy life. She loved to be with other people, especially with her friends and her neighbours in Freeport, NY. In her phone calls to Germany she often told us, how much she loves boating in the bay, singing in the german choir and having good times and good parties in Otto’s Sea Grill in Freeport, NY. Mostly she told about the good times with her friends Barbara, Arnim and Ilona Jagnow, Ruth Brand with her daughter Cristina, Bill and Kaya. Dear Edelgard, rest in peace. We are sure, you will be in heaven, together with Arthur. We greatly miss you. Your nephew Uwe with his wife Sabine

Our dear aunt Edelgard traveled to New York on the ship "Queen Mary" at the beginning of the sixties. During her stay in NY, she met her future husband Arthur and stayed there forever. We also had the opportunity to meet Arthur and some of her friends in 2000 while celebrating Edelgard's 68th birthday in Freeport. Now she followed Arthur. Rest in peace Aunt Edelgard. Your nephew Frank with his wife Britta.

Dear friend of Barbara, Arnim & Ilona Jagnow of Otto’s Sea Grill in Freeport, NY Edelgard was always the life of the party, with a smile on her face, and funny stories to tell. She was my Mom’s best friend, they canoed in the canoe races together, the lifeboat races in NYC, & loved our Halloween costume parties at Otto’s.. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was a meticulous & dedicated Operating Room RN for countless years at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow until her retirement. She loved tooling around the bay in her boat, and fixing whatever needed to be fixed. Loved by everyone. Rest In Peace Eelie, I’m sure you, Arthur and my folks are watching us all while enjoying a beer at The Pearly Gates Bar.
