Obituary of Regina M. McGrath

Regina M. McGrath of Freeport on January 4, 2021. Retired Bookkeeper for Janvey & Sons Supply. Beloved wife of the late Thomas. Loving mother of Charlotte Ann Quigley, Ellen (Samuel) Guarnieri, Stephen McGrath, Paul (Geri) McGrath, Diane McGrath, and Marie Antoniadis. Devoted Nannie of 16 grandchildren and a Grand Nannie of 5 great grandchildren. With her husband Tom she raised her family to know love, share kindness and work hard. She took care of every child in the neighborhood, packing lunches and loading everyone into the car for daily trips to the beach. She only knew one way to live, and that was to welcome all into her house. An avid sports fan, she loved her Mets, Islanders, NFL, college football and any sport her children and grandchildren played. Regina was an avid reader and even had her own Freeport Library Bookmobile stop for many years. She lived her childhood dream to see the world by traveling to over 20 countries. She dedicated her life to family and service, volunteering countless hours as a school volunteer, member and President of Our Holy Redeemer School Ladies Auxiliary, member of the Maria Regina High School Crown Booster Club (the "Cee Bees"), raising money for St. Josephs Center in Scranton, Pennsylvania and supporting Birthright to assist young women. She led by example, her focus on philanthropy, volunteering, and willingness to help others has been passed on to her family. She was active in the Freeport Businesswomen's Association and the Malloy Institute of Lifetime Learning for many years. Family will receive friends on Sunday January 10th from 4:00 - 7:00PM. Funeral Mass Monday January 11th at 9:30AM Our Holy Redeemer RC Church. Interment Calverton National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions to Freeport Memorial Library, 144 W.
