Obituary of Mary Ann Rohrbach

MaryAnn Elizabeth (Ryan) Rohrbach, age 95, passed away (peacefully) on January 22, 2018 at

Winthrop Hospital Mineola, NY (after a brief illness). At the time of her death, she was a resident

of Mineola, NY. She was born on February 14,1922 to Joseph and Amy (Chaplin) Ryan.

MaryAnn grew up on Long lsland, living in Mineola, Williston Park, and Hempstead. She attended

Mineola High School. After high school, she worked at a Fanny Farmer Candy Shop. A coworker told

her that her brother had just joined the Army to fight in the War and would MaryAnn want to write to

him. She did, and on December 10,1942, she and Christian Rohrbach married in Hicksville, NY. After the War, they bought a home in Hempstead, NY where they raised 4 children. When the children were old

enough, MaryAnn went to work in the Admissions Office at Nassau Hospital.

MaryAnn was preceded in death by her husband, Christian, in 1978; her daughter, Margaret Wray, in

2004; and her siblings, Ruth (Ryan) Lambert, Josephine (Ryan) Calastino, William Ryan, George Ryan, and Ellen (Ryan) Grogan. She is survived by her son, Christian (and Kathleen Smith) Rohrbach of Poughkeepsie, NY, daughter, Mary (and Donald) Schleich of Freeport, NY, son, James (and Stacy) Rohrbach of Washington, DC, 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, niece Cathy Katz, as well as many other nieces and nephews, their children and grandchildren, friends and neighbors.

Visiting hours at Hungerford & Clark Inc. Funeral Home, 110 Pine St, (Corner So. Ocean Ave.) Freeport NY Thursday from 2 to 4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral Mass Friday 9:30am at Our Holy Redeemer R.C. Church, Freeport, N.Y.

Cremation Private.

The family would like to especially thank Dr. Mario Costantino, and the doctors

and staff of Main 3 floor at Winthrop Hospital for their caring professionalism and

making MaryAnn's last days comfortable.
